SAFW will be back on the runway October 28th – 30th where the finest faces in the country will be strutting their stuff. This is a unique opportunity to launch the careers of the country’s next fashion supermodels – and the never-before-seen fresh faces of fashion.
Fashion models play an intrinsic and essential role in unfolding the narrative of the collections presented at SA Fashion Week. They bring to life the designs of our best fashion talents. These ambassadors of fashion personalise the collections with their individuality and ability to make the clothes shine even more.
A model is an extension of the designer collections, a fundamental piece of the collective exhibition of art. This is what differentiates the experience. It is given a particular personality that stands out in the mass of digital content published by the media, designers, and their followers. It is not only a story of the garment creation that takes centre-stage in fashion design but the face that interprets, projects, and makes the clothes themselves come alive.
The selection of the Face of Africa winners will be done during the SAFW Pop-up Shop that will run during regular shopping mall trading hours in the Crystal Court of the Mall of Africa, between 2nd and 4th December.
A panel of judges will select one male and one female model from a shortlist of aspiring “faces”. These two future icons will be represented by ICE model management. Plus, the winners will receive an R10 000 gift voucher from the Mall of Africa.
Being a finalist in the Face of Fashion Competition can take a modeling career to the next level. Previous winners, Lethabo Khunou and Trystan Riley, both secured high-profile modeling assignments after The Face of Fashion. These include local triumphs, such as opening shows at SAFW and a Castle Lite Drop-in collaboration with Thebe Magugu, all the way to international campaigns for Bellagio Jewellers.
