In his third year of studying engineering, Simon Zikala, Creative Director of Alexandra Gouveia, (pronounced Goo-vay-E-ahm, a salute to his mother and brother) took the plunge and dropped out to pursue fashion full-time. In 2014, the self-taught designer began tailoring using an old sewing machine the inherited from his grandmother.
Family and community, specifically family as a community itself, heavily influenced the streetwear brand’s identity. You will often find him collaborating with his creative community, developing relationships, and creating synergy through story-driven collections. These collaborations are a big part of the brands’ DNA, especially the 3 am x Alexandra Gouveia Denim Design collection, debuting in the summer of 2017.
