Jenevieve Lyons’ fashion design is conceptually driven. She reinterprets ideas from several fields of study into fashion. For example, her Autumn/Winter 2016 collection is called Macula, which means “spot” or “freckle.”
Moshanyana, a film about an albino youngster with freckles, was the source of inspiration for the collection. Lyons regards freckles as imperfections to be celebrated rather than hidden in the collection. She challenges the notions of what is beautiful and what is ugly, as she does in many of her collections. The brand has a runway/ high fashion collection as well as a ready-to-wear range for both men and women, so she is always ready to create things for fashion-conscious clientele who can appreciate the highly made yet simple pieces.
