The South African company was launched in 2012 by Laduma Ngxokolo. Maxhosa Africa has recently started to gain strong traction in the industry. Laduma Ngxokolo is one of South Africa’s most well-known knitwear designers, having won several awards, including the Vogue Italia “Scouting for Africa” Award. His mix of traditional Xhosa beading with luxury South African fabrics such as mohair and wool results in one-of-a-kind pieces for both genders.
Maxhosa’s brilliant use of colors and forms are reminiscent of his traditional Xhosa roots, and despite their often quirky look, his creations are ready-to-wear thanks to its contemporary edge.
