Lara Klawikowski is a Cape Town-based South African high-fashion/couture designer and illustrator with Polish and Russian background.
She won the esteemed Durban July Young Designer Award, was a top 5 graduate at her graduation show and even did a course in shoe manufacture and shoe design throughout her studies. In 2013, she debuted her first ready-to-wear line at Mercedes-Benz Fashion, and she was a semi-finalist at the SAFW Renault New Talent competition.
Her pieces have distinct craftsmanship, femininity, edge, and otherworldly beauty and are intriguingly tactile and handcrafted. Her fascination with distinctive detail, texture, and fabric innovation has driven her to work with recycled, upcycled, and re-fabricated materials on a regular basis.
