Tart is a womenswear fashion label founded in 2001 by Cari Stephenson, who is based in Cape Town, South Africa. Tart strives to make gorgeous, easy-to-wear clothing in vibrant patterns and colours for women who lead active lives.
Tart clothing focuses on quality, style, and affordability, with the goal of creating pieces that will become staples in a woman’s closet. Cari draws inspiration for Tart’s clothing from her favourite things, such as colour, pop culture from the 1970s and 1990s, and the feel of luxurious textiles.
Solange Knowles wore Tart on the cover of South African Elle Magazine’s November issue in 2012. Knowles depicts the Tart woman as an independent, adventurous woman who stays true to her roots.
