At only 22 years old, Alexandra van Heerden, a fashion and textile design student. already sparked conversation in the fashion world. While she didn’t start with much experience on a sewing machine, she could not stop thinking about fashion and enrolled at DUT in 2016. Alex’s designs illustrate that sustainable fashion doesn’t just need to be organic material or recycled material.
Inspired by Stella McCartney and Charles Jeffrey Loverboy, Alex has found the most creative, bold and humble ways to sustainability into her work.
Her latest collection was brought to life with thrifted clothes, toys and decor to challenge fashion norms while celebrating bold and playful colours.
